“Party of No” – but what is the question?

One of the favorite talking points of the left is the the Republicans are the “party of no.” But the whole “sound bite” falls apart when you put it into the proper context of an answer to a question.

Party of No

Republicans are certainly the “party of no” when the questions are exposed:

  • “No!” – to big government
  • “No!” – to higher taxes
  • “No!” – to the secular, socialist agenda of Obama
  • “No!” – to Chicago-style, backroom-deal corruption
  • “No!” – to the government takeover of health care
  • “No!” – to the government takeover of the financial industry
  • “No!” – to the government takeover of the auto industry
  • “No!” – to the government takeover of education
  • “No!” – to wasteful, pork-barrel “bailouts”
  • “No!” – to the job killing programs of the Democrats
  • “No!” – to government unions that enrich the bureaucrats at the expense of the rest of us
  • “No!” – to the “redistribution of wealth” agenda

Yes, it looks like Republicans could easily be called the “party of no.” The next statement made by the leftist after “party of no” is that the Republicans “have no ideas.” Here are some of the Republican ideas, that when posed as the questions show the Republicans to be the “party of yes.”

Party of Yes

Republicans are the “party of yes” when the following are the goals:

  • “Yes!” – to limited government
  • “Yes!” – to lower taxes
  • “Yes!” – to the rule of law
  • “Yes!” – to transparent, clean government that represents the will of the people
  • “Yes!” – to the free enterprise system
  • “Yes!” – to getting the government out of the way of the small business engine of the economy
  • “Yes!” – to a fair educational system based on parental choice
  • “Yes!” – to Americans exceptionalism as the way to prosperity
  • “Yes!” – to individual responsibility that built our country
  • “Yes!” – to business-friendly, job-friendly government
  • “Yes!” – to opportunity to achieve based on results
  • “Yes!” – to Constitutional foundations because they give us the proven ways for social betterment
