Who is John Galt? – See the movie (Atlas Shrugged) April 15th

I have eagerly been awaiting the release of Atlas Shrugged, Part 1 on April 15th. It is an interesting story about how this movie almost did not get made.

I first found on IMDB that the movie had been years and years through a series of attempts to be made. However, Hollywood being Hollywood, it was apparently loathe to allow such a film to be created. Unfortunately the IMDB page with the details seems no longer publicly available.

In fact, there were rumors of such stars as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for starring roles, which are still discussed on links found on the referenced IMDB page. There was even a trailer posted on IMDB that showed Brad Pitt and other well-known actors in the main roles. The trailer appears to be gone from IMDB, but you can still find the fan-made Atlas Shrugged trailer with big stars on YouTube. However, being “fan-made” means this trailer is not real.

However, when the film could not be financed in the way it was intended, the businessman John Aglialoro who was trying to get the film made stepped forward to finance the film with his own money, up to $10 to $15 million in production costs. Of course, at that level, out goes the big star power. For details, please see this interview with John Aglialoro.
