Debate Round One: the war of “specifics”

The Obama camp’s main fault with Gov. Romney is that he lacks “specifics”. But this is a bogus issue.

  1. Romney in fact gave many specifics about his plans.
  2. No matter what Romney says or now specific, the opposition will say, “short on specifics.” Par for the course to say that.
  3. What about Obama’s specifics? One of the most telling flaws of the President is that he makes a huge number of specific promises but actually does the opposite. Here are some:
    • I’ll have the most transparent presidency!
    • I’ll get rid of lobbyists!
    • I’ll get rid of earmarks!
    • I’ll cut the deficit in half by end of first term!
    • I’ll reduce the unpatriotic national debt!
    • If you want to keep your doctor, you can!
    • If you want to keep your health care plan, you can!
    • Obamacare will lower health care premiums $2,500!
    • Won’t raise taxes on those making less than $250,000!
    • Employment rate below 8% with stimulus!
    • Health care debate on C-Span!
    • I inherited the failed Bush economy! (Not the failed Dodd-Frank enforced lending to bad risks)
    • Obamacare is NOT a tax!
    • Rich don’t pay their fair share!
    • US produces more oil than ever before!
    • I’ll walk that picket line with you!
    • My budget will cut the deficit by $4 Trillion over 10 years!
    • They don’t care about (black) people in New Orleans!

The above are just a few highlights. For a more complete list, with links to supporting documentation, go to Obama Lies.

So what good are “Obama specifics” anyways? They don’t mean anything. In fact, you are hard pressed to come up with an example of any Obama specific that he delivered. One specific he may deliver on is that “If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition!”

I trust Romney’s track record of delivering on his goals.

So, what is your choice? Romney’s specifics, or Obama’s lies?
