The Rich Should Pay More

Here’s an idea: why don’t we set it up so that the rich pay more for everything. For example, 10 pounds of potatoes could sell on a sliding scale from $1 up to $10 depending upon your income.

This idea could be extended to everything. A new car could go for $10,000 up to $100,000 (for the same car) depending upon your income. Absolutely every good and service could be sold this way. This would bring the marketplace into harmony with the progressive concept of progressive taxes. This idea would be progressive pricing on everything.

In fact, if sellers of goods and services would get a windfall from this scheme, prices could even be lowered on the low end. Goods and services could even be provided for free, or even pay the customer to take the them.

Is this a good idea? Would it be fair?

Why is this any different from a progressive tax code?
