Hard-core leftist supporters – “The Party of Food Stamps”

In all the current polls there is typically some amount of the population, typically around 40% who support left-leaning or outright socialist positions. I have often wondered why there are even that many.

The answer is not too difficult to understand. When you see that approximately the same percentage, around 45% of our population don’t pay income taxes, or more likely get tax credits back from the government.

It is very easy to see that there is a built-in support for the “welfare state” from those who are its clients.

The most vehement about “spread-the-wealth” policies and the largest segment of economic equalization are those who are getting the benefit of it.

No wonder at every move the left tries to consolidate and expand its power base by forcing people to become the dependent clients of the welfare state.

  • Those who like the “Party of Food Stamps” are the ones who receive the food stamps.
  • Those who like the “Party of Paychecks” are the ones who receive or want to receive paychecks.

Thanks to Newt Gingrich on Hannity, 30-Sep-10 for making this distinction.
