The concept of wealth redistribution makes our government into a vampire: it sucks the blood of the successful.
Why is confiscation of property tolerated under the guise of fair taxation? Yes, taxation is “constitutional”, Biblically sanctioned (“render unto Caesar”) and even Biblically given philosophical impetus, where the tithe to the representative of God is now replaced with the “tithe” to the government in the form of a tax. However, I think that most people would agree that at a certain point, taxation becomes excessive and will not be tolerated.
The whole question then is at what level does taxation become unfair?
I submit that our present level of taxation is unfair and until this unfairness is resolved, class warfare will not be eliminated.
When wealth redistribution goes too far it is no longer “taxation” but is “confiscation of property.” The government and its dependents become vampires.
